Introduction to the role:
Are you ready to make a positive impact in a dynamic environment? We are seeking a highly organized and knowledgeable Agreements Specialist to join our External Expert Engagement Services (E3S) team. In this role, you will manage contract-related queries and redlines for contracts with healthcare professionals, experts, patients, and individual patient advocates. As a trusted advisor, you will provide clear, risk-aware guidance on reviewing, interpreting, and negotiating contract terms across various templates used by the teams, for both Global and the MCs.
Operating in a complex, high-activity environment, you will ensure executed contracts meet AstraZeneca’s compliance requirements and external regulations while safeguarding corporate interests. This hybrid position requires travel to the AZ office three days per week.
Main accountabilities:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the Engagement Services teams, providing guidance on contract queries and redlines.
• Interpret clauses related to intellectual property, confidentiality, transparency, data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance, offering practical advice for complex contractual matters.
• Advise on responding to redlines and negotiating terms across professional services agreements, master service agreements, statements of work, and patient and patient advocate agreements.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to resolve challenging contract issues and deliver effective solutions.
• Develop, update, and maintain contract templates with key institutions to enhance the efficiency of contract delivery.
• Oversee the E3S contract playbook and advise on updates to the E3S contracts clause library to reflect evolving requirements.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members on best practices for contract review and escalation protocols.
• Ensure all contract activities adhere to internal policies, external regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Gather customer feedback from E3S users to identify and implement continuous process improvements.
• Design and implement data metrics and dashboards that deliver actionable insights to the E3S Leadership Team.
• Actively participate in meetings, training sessions, and initiatives to support the ongoing development of Engagement Services teams.
Essential Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proven experience in contract review or management within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences sectors.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and legal requirements for contracts involving healthcare professionals, experts, patients, and patient advocates.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain legal and contractual issues to non-legal audiences.
• Proficiency with information and technology systems, including Microsoft applications.
• Outstanding interpersonal, customer relationship, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, think broadly, and act independently.
• Strong ethical standards and sound judgment.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
• JD or paralegal experience.
• Experience in managing HCP/Expert contracts as an E3S Engagement Specialist/Analyst.
• Proficiency with contract drafting lifecycle management systems and tools, including CRUELLA.
